This blog will parallel the work I am doing for one of my classes called Research And Design. Essentially, it is a class that allows me to develop my own experiment for a science fair, which will be the Intel ISEF.
For my experiment I am researching the most effective methods of remediating desertified land. This is an important area of research because of the repercussions of land degradation and an encroaching desert; Human settlements, ecological systems, and food supplies will all be negatively effected by increased desertification.
My goals related to this blog will include the following: evaluate existing remediation processes, comparing those processes, and eventually experimenting with those processes in a lab setting. The former two will be in an essay format.
A factor worthy of note in this experiment is the fact that the experiment will evaluate the Permian Basins soils. These are considered at risk for desertification in the foreseeable future, therefore they may effect the lives of many people immediately around me.
